How Does This Course Work?
This course is fully online, giving you the flexibility to learn at your own pace. Upon registration and payment, you’ll receive login details for your student portal, where you can immediately access all course materials, including the training manual, video tutorials, workbook, and assessments.
A physical copy of your comprehensive training manual will also be mailed to you. While you wait for it to arrive, you can begin working through the materials online. Once you’ve completed the course content, you’ll submit your final exam, which includes both written and practical components.
You’ll have up to two years to complete the course, but how you pace yourself within that time is entirely up to you. If you need more time to finish, extensions can be requested to ensure you feel fully prepared to succeed.

Final Assessment

Pole Experience
To complete the course, you'll need to pass a practical exam. This includes teaching a mock class and demonstrating your personal pole skills.

How much pole experience do I need?
Our course is designed to help you deepen your own pole practice as well as your teaching skills. We firmly believe that being an advanced pole dancer is not a prerequisite for becoming an exceptional teacher. What matters most is your understanding of the technique, your ability to relay instructions clearly to your students, and your skills to support them safely through movements. However, we do recommend that you have at least three months experience training pole and are competent with basic spins, tricks and inversions. In your final exam, you will need to demonstrate that you can perform at least two transitions, spins, tricks and inversions. You can take up to two years to complete this training, therefore you can develop your personal skills alongside your teaching skills as you work your way through the course.
What do I need for the course?
As our course is completely online based you really don’t need much. Just a pole, a device to access the website with Wi-Fi access (tablet/laptop/phone), a video camera (your phone will do), and a couple of friends to teach. The most important thing you need is a desire to learn, to be inquisitive and to work hard.
How long does it take to complete the course?
The course is designed to provide approximately 200 hours of pole instructor training, but how long it takes to complete is entirely up to you. We understand that life is busy—some of our students can only dedicate a few hours a week, while others have more time to focus and move through the material faster. One of the best things about an online course is the flexibility to fit it around your schedule, whether you want to take it slow or power through at your own pace. On average, students complete the course in three to six months, but you have up to two years if you need it! From the moment you enrol, you’ll have full access to the platform for two years to complete your training. Even after finishing the course, you can continue using the materials for the remainder of your access period—perfect for refreshing your knowledge as you grow into your role as an instructor.
Can I fail the course?
The good news is, as long as you complete the necessary hours and assignments, there is no failing – there is just feedback and room for growth. We want you to pass, to succeed, and to be the best pole instructor you can be. Once submitted, your final exam will be marked and you will be given constructive feedback. If we feel that you need more practice, you will be given the chance to hone your skills and resubmit a new final assessment video. This process can be repeated as many times as needed until we are sure you are ready and able to be a competent, confident pole teacher. But, trust us, if you follow the course program, by the end of the syllabus, you will be fully prepped and ready to submit a winning final exam!
What is the final exam?
The final assessment is your chance to show us everything you have learnt about being a confident, professional, safe pole fitness instructor and we want to see you in action! The final exam involves you recording yourself teaching a 60-minute pole class to a minimum of three students. On the same video, we want you to demonstrate a short choreography including at least two elements of tricks, spins, transitions and inversions. This is so that we know you are proficient at doing pole yourself and able to put together routines in order to be able to teach a variety of classes to your students. Once you have your video ready, you will upload it to YouTube, where it will be reviewed against our criteria and given feedback. As well as the video element, there will also be a short written submission telling us why you want to be a pole dance instructor.
What if I need help or have some questions?
At Pole Movement we know that questions are such an important part of learning, and we don’t expect you to have all of the answers right away. Our commitment is to support and guide you every step of the way – and that is why we have a virtual open door policy. On your student portal you will have a direct stream of communication with your course leaders where you can ask us anything you like and we will do our best to get back to you within 24 hours. If you need a little bit more support we are always happy to jump on a video call and help clarify any of the content. We will also personally review your workbook submissions and provide feedback in addition to detailed feedback after your final exam to help you become the best teacher you can be!
